Diss 1st XV vs Old Habs 1st XV
Habs win in Norfolk
Old Habs made their second and final trip up to Norfolk for the season to play Diss who are similarly placed in the league.
Having talked pre-game about starting the game strong the team did exactly that. Playing with a great amount of intensity OH came out the blocks firing scoring 3 unanswered tries in the first 10 minutes of the game.
OH have unfortunately made a habit of starting strongly and then letting the opposition back into the game. In the first half of the game it looked as though things were not about to change. Diss scored their first try from a well worked chip and went on to score another 2 tries in the rest of the half. Despite this, Habs had been playing some great rugby, playing with structure and fluidity running in 3 more tries throughout the half. The score was 24-32 at the break with strong place kicking from the Diss 10 keeping them well in the game.
Habs again started the half strongly and were running the ball well, punching holes in the Diss defence. At times in the match Diss built up some possession but solid Habs defence denied them the territory to secure their 4th try. As the half went on Habs scored 5 more tries to run away with the game helped by strong travelling support. There were a number of great team tries including a driving maul from a clinical line out and some free flowing tries achieved through slick handling.
As the game approached the final minutes Habs were 63-24 in the lead. Diss, hungry for the 4-try bonus point did not give up. A well executed attack saw Diss cross the line in the final minutes of the game to secure the BP.
An outstanding team performance from Old Habs and credit to Diss for sticking at it to get the valuable BP.
A ‘fun bus’ was certainly enjoyed by most back to London, except for the few unlucky individuals who were served justice in Judge Scotchy’s High Court.
